Description
Further refurbishments included repainting the car in red, reupholstering the black vinyl interior, and fitting a replacement clutch, flywheel, and clutch release fork. Equipment includes a removable red hardtop, 15â?³ Rally wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Weiand intake manifold, retractable headlights, chrome bumpers, dual exhaust outlets, a Delco radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. The fiberglass body left the factory finished in Rally Red (UU) and was repainted in 1988, at which time the chrome was re-plated. Additional details include a removable red hardtop, a driver-side mirror, a power-retractable antenna, flip-up headlights, fender vents, split chrome bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets exiting through the rear valance. The 15â?³ steel wheels are mounted with 215/70 BFGoodrich Touring T/A tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The suspension was overhauled in 2001, with work consisting of installing KYB shocks and replacing the front-end bushings, U-joints, and lower ball joints. The cabin was refreshed in 2001 by Javierâ??s Corvette in Van Nuys, California, and features two bucket seats upholstered in black vinyl joined by color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Amenities include a heater, lap belts, and a Delco AM/FM radio.
